The open source problem
While doing what is right and working on what you believe in is an inarguably noble objective, in our current reality, it is often an altruistic effort. Open source, especially, while righteous in its premise, has long been dogged by financial unsustainability. We are human, after all. We need to pay rent, we need to eat, we need to live. Specifically, we need money. And so, for the most part, our long term ideals are compromised by our short term needs.

The Bitcoin Grant's mission
We want to build a better reality, one in which what we do everyday and what we believe in are finally aligned. We want to eliminate the nagging opportunity cost of pursuing your goals. We want open source to become central to how we move forward instead of being a hobby or an afterthought. And we want to build this reality together, with you.
-
The Solution
It is Bitcoin. Bitcoin is the first open source project built from the ground up with monetization in mind. Beyond feeling good, all of our efforts are now quantifiable and excellent work merits compensation. Bitcoin eliminates your need to compromise. If until now, you have been working purely out of love, the Bitcoin Grant would like to fund you, no strings attached, so that excellent work continues. It is that simple.

requirements
The only requirement of the Bitcoin Grant is that the project must be open source in nature, this is not limited to only software. There is no application to fill out, do not send us a email; simply continue to do great work and the Bitcoin Grant will reach out to you.
